Your logic is flawed in terms of adding pages to your booklet. The booklet will always need to be a multiple of 4 pages and whenever your page count changes, every box will need to move. For instance, if you increase from 4 pages, the first box on the left facing page one will need to become page eight (and page four will need to be on a page facing page five).

Page layout programs (eg MS Publisher, Adobe Indesign) do booklet layouts automatically so I would recommend you look at using something other than Word.

In Word, the best way to do this would be to set up your document normally as if it isn't a booklet (either on A4 or A5 page sizes). When you need to print it, use the printer settings to do a 2 per page output and specify the page print order by typing in the correct order of page numbers {4,1,2,3} or {8,1,2,7,6,3,4,5} etc.
