There are two things you need to do:

1. Turn off track changes.
2. turn of the display of existing tracked changes

to turn off track changes, go to the Review menu. If the Track Changes icon is shaded, then it is still active. click the icon, and the background color should change to match the rest of the toolbar--signifying that the feature has been turned off.

To turn of the DISPLAY of tracked changes, look for the dropdown to the immediate right of the Track Changes icon. If you're seeing markup, it likely shows either All Markup or Simple Markup. Change the dropdown to No Markup and you should be good.

Now, if you want to get rid of the existing tracked changes as well, there is a shortcut. Go to the immediate right of the markup dropdown, and click the button below Accept. The bottom option in the dropdown is Accept all changes AND Stop Tracking.

Hope this helps!
