The control to insert a table is on the left end of the Insert tab.
The ones for the Content Controls are on the Developer Tab.

I slightly modified the placeholder text in the Content Controls using the Design Mode (also on the Developer Tab) and then turning that mode off.
You can download the attachment file and examine them yourself.
