Default Combining files with endnotes

I am using Word 2007. I have written a book that I would like to submit to publishers as one file. I have successfully combined four files into one file I'll call front matter. Next comes the one text file containing many chapters separated by continuous section breaks. Then, I have one file containing four combined files. So now I have three files that I wish to combine into one. I do this the standard way (insert, object, text from file, combine). The result is a combined file but all the endnotes that I assigned to each chapter, that followed each continuous section break, (text file) now separate out and rest at the bottom of this combined document.

Question: Is there an easy way of fixing this middle text file so that the endnotes stay in place when I combine the three files? I would prefer not to strip out all the endnotes, one by one, and paste them back after combining the files. Thanks.
