I assume you did this within your Outlook desktop program, not deleting your actual account at Outlook.com?

There should be no harm in doing that, I've done it a few times over the years when one of my accounts started misbehaving.

As long as you change the Data File for the newly created account to the Data File you were using for the old account, you should be fine.
