Default Display the properties of an embedded image

We have a number of different PowerPoint files that have alot of dynamic images (PNG files) that are created by a different application.

Every now and then, we have a need for the user to confirm the images are the 'current' images (as generated by the other application). Is there a way within PowerPoint to do this?

I was hoping I could just right mouse click an image and have it display the underlying PNG file's properties (date and time stamp), but that kind of functionality doesn't seem to exist. I'm hoping there is some sort of trick that is already built into PowerPoint that would allow me to accomplish this without too much trouble.

Thanks in advance for your help.
