1. What happens if you try to open while within Word, using File > Open?

2. It does work in Windows 10. It is not supported by Microsoft on Windows 10. I have Windows 10. My Word 2003 opens, edits, and saves .docx files.

The images above are the Word 2003 tile in Windows 10 and an open .docx document.

The image above is the File > Open dialag in Word 2003 running on Windows 10, showing .docx files as Word files.

3. This software is almost 20 years old and was developed for Windows 2002 or XP. In vehicle terms, it is the equivalent of a 1965 Mustang. It is no longer supported by Microsoft, but it does work. (Word 2007 is no longer supported, either.) It is not as secure as the more recent versions, and more prone to document corruption. If you need to do so, it is quite possible to configure a computer to run Windows XP.
