Default office 365 Outlook address book

just got Office 365 trying to set up Outlook address book. I have tried just about everything I can find or think of but nothing seems to work. I tried setting up a mailing list under contacts. the help sections says to right click contacts and then add sub folder. I named the sub folder and then it says right click and go to properties. Properties show the sub folder but the box to make the sub folder an address book is not checked and the program will not allow me to check the box. I am very frustrated with this as I have been trying everything I can think of. I appreciate help from anyone that has an idea on what I am doing wrong or what is wrong with the program.
