Default Dynamic insertion of an image into Word fillable form based on a drop-down list selection

Is there a way to dynamically insert an image into a Word document/fillable form based on a selection in a drop-down box?

I know how to insert images using the Building Block Gallery Content Control and Gallery (Alt + F3, Custom 1, etc.) but this is not quite what I'm looking for. Is there a "cleaner" solution?

I have a list of approximately 300 names which I want to have in a drop-down list. Once a name is selected from the drop-down list, I would like the corresponding photo to be inserted into the cell/area next to the name. The photos can either be stored within the document itself (a template using the gallery) or, if easier, can be stored on a Shared Drive and pulled from there, either solution would be fine.

This is relatively simple to carry out in Excel but of course, Excel isn't as easy to use for typing and formatting large amounts of text.
