Default multiple references to single exhibit by letter

I'm a lawyer. I'm drafting a client affidavit as she describes her various expenses. So I describe her housing and want to attach the lease as Exhibit A. I would like that "A" to be a field so if I reorder my text, the exhibits reorder automatically. I'm using the insert caption for this.

I describe lots of expenses, frequently attaching proof as an exhibit, B-F, etc. Now I want to attach her credit card statements. In later paragraphs I will also refer to the credit card statements by exhibit letter. I want these references to be by field so if I reorder the paragraphs, the cross reference remains accurate. The easy way to do that would be to make the credit card statements first, so everything would always be Exhibit A. But that would be cheating.

I tried using the cross reference feature, but it has no option to select the captions.

I hope that I've given enough detail to explain my problem. Many thanks.
