Default Office Support Issue

I had a previous Microsoft account through my employer. I retired 5 1/2 months ago and haven't used the account since then. I just purchased Office 365 Home. I tried to download it and set it up. I contacted Microsoft support. They wanted to remote into my computer but I refused to let them do so because the last time I did, the technician screwed up my computer so bad that I had to take it to a computer technician to get it back in order. The Microsoft person, Tripti, then put me hold to speak to a "level 2" ? technician (because I wouldn't let her remote into my computer) and I've now been on the hold for 1 hour and 11 minutes. I'm doing other stuff while I'm waiting but she said it should be about "3 minutes" before I could speak to someone. Of what I can tell, I get the feeling that the Microsoft team is overly frustrated because I wouldn't let them into my computer to let them "have-at-it" on my computer settings. Everything was going fine until it asked me to put in the 6 digit code (which they sent to my e-mail and which I entered but the computer wouldn't accept). That's when she transferred me to a "level 2 ???" technician and I've been hold ever since. I've used Wordperfect Suite for years and I'm starting to remember why and at this point, getting very close to shutting this down and returning Office 365 Home back to the retailer.
