MS word 365 for Mac

suddenly documents are opening in Multiple pages view
i can goto the menu and turn off multiview But it just returns back
and now it seems to stay in multiview

is there some setting to stop this from happening - possibly hit a key combination on the iMac keyboard to bring it about as some sort of default

happens to older documents as well, every time i open a document
