Default Fonts Not Changing - Pull Down Menu

I have installed a new font and it shows up in Powerpoints pull down text menu. It also shows up in my Windows 10 Fonts folder. When I select/highlight text in an existing Powerpoint slide and select my new font from the pull-down list, the text in the document does not change. Any thoughts. Also, if I open an existing Powerpoint document that uses the same font (in this case Lithos Regular) - the slide displays what I assume to be the Powerpoint default font. Again, any thoughts of how I might fix this issue?
