The reason automatically is tougher is that there are all kinds of images that can be inserted and there can be other things in a document that might trigger a macro.


For instance, if you have a macro add a caption to every shape in a document, you can end up with a looping macro that does not end because the captions themselves are normally in shapes (textboxes). Pictures can be wrapped in different ways in Word as well.
