As Kimberly stated: AutoCorrect uses the space character as a trigger.

It will not allow a simple double-space to be part of the replaced text.


You can easily use a macro for this.


The grammar checker also can be set to show a problem with a double space following a period, question mark, or colon.


The original problem was for double-spaces inside of sentences. A macro would address that, the grammar checker might as well. Your suggested list including every letter will catch some at the end of sentences.
