I am using Word 2007 with Windows 10.


This is a how to question and not a Word problem, except for me.

I have a documenet that is essentially a tour guide of an area that involves about 60 stops. The stops although listed sequentially may be visited in other orders.

Each Stop is identifed by a number using a standard Sequence field, e.g. Stop 1-10 in the order listed in the text.

However, although the stops can be visited in sequence, sometimes they be can be run out of sequence or some stops can be skipped but rejoined later in the sequence.


For example: With 20 stops, they can be visited from 1 to 20. However there can be an optional route to skip stops 9 to 11, but pick up again at stop 12.

I can manually type in as a "go to stop option 12" at stop 8. This works fine but if I decide to add to or delete stop 10, I then have to manually update eevery "Go to stop XX" later in the text, although the Seq stops update automatically.

This can get quite laborious if there is alot or rearranging Stops.

Is there a way to update the "Go to" Stop number automatically if a particular stop is changed so that all the Go to stops after the change are updated? There about a dozen of these other options in my 60 stop document

Please excuse me of any naivete if there is an obvious method of doing this. I assume it is possible to do this in Word 2007, but I can't figure it out.



However, I am relatively new to Word 2007 and ribbons and a search of the internet has not yielded an obvious solution to my problem.

If possible I hope that this method is possible without getting into macro executions.

Any "cookbook" solution or pointers to "how to" links would be most appreciated .
