Print layout view will always show page 1 on the left if you are displaying 2 pages per screen.


If you print duplex and bind your document on the left you should get the desired result.


You are trying to print two logical pages per one printed page? That is handled in the Print menu.



You can insert a next-page section break at the beginning of your document and restart page numbering at 1 for the new section. In the first section (the blank page) go into the header or footer and select "Different First Page" to eliminate the page number.


For pdf, I find that I get the best appearance doing this by formatting my original document as being legal size rather than letter size. The pdf prints on letter-size paper. Otherwise, I get very large top/bottom margins.
