Default Inserting multiple photos at a specific size

I am producing an A4 size Word document in portrait. The finished document will have several lines of text followed by a number of photographs (anywhere from 10 to 25). This format repeats throughout the document which will be about 100 pages long when finished and will contain 200 or so photographs in total.

On one particular page for example, the photographs will need to appear side by side ie 2 photographs per 'line' with a set gap between them and I want to fit 6 photographs per page (when the photographs are inserted in landscape) or 4 photographs per page (when the photographs are inserted in portrait). To achieve this, photographs inserted in landscape will need to be approx 5.85cm high x 7.81cm wide and photographs inserted in portrait will need to be approx 10.4cm high x 7.81cm wide.

In the past, I have inserted multiple photographs into similar documents after each section of text but I have then had to resize the photographs individually as these match the page width when they are inserted.

Is there a way to either:
i) select the multiple photographs within the document which have been inserted into each section and then resize them globally in one operation or
ii) pre-set the photograph size before they are inserted into the document

or is there an easier/quicker way to achieve what I need? I thought about possibly inserting a table into the document which could dictate the photograph size and the gap between them but I am not sure whether this would work or how I could insert multiple photographs into such a table or whether they would need to be inserted individually?

It is a bit difficult to explain what I am trying to achieve bit I hope the above is clear. I look forward to any responses which might be provided. Many thanks.
