This is probably as expected. Continue with it and see if it actually works anyway.

Every character has an ascii code which corresponds to a glyph (character) for that particular font. Generally, you don't notice that an 'a' character is usually an 'a' no matter what typeface you have selected. However in the case of a wingding typeface, an 'a' might be something else entirely.

The Find/Replace dialog always shows the text you paste in a standard typeface (not necessarily the typeface you copied). When this happens to line up with what you were expecting, you don't notice that the typeface changed. However, in the case of a wingding, the characters you copy are likely to show up as something else when you paste into the find what box because the typeface is most likely not a wingding in that field.
