When I chose Insert Page Number, it is NOT an option. [Can only see the words faintly] It is very frustrating!

Pls. advise how to insert page numbers or how can I get out of Compatibility Mode.
Thanks SO much!

I received this advice: "Without actually seeing the problem document, it can be difficult for anyone to diagnose the issue. Can you attach a document to a post with some representative data (delete anything sensitive)? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen."

I am not attaching the lengthy Document but here is one that provides an example.

I agree that compatibility mode has nothing to do with entering page numbers.
Word has had the ability to add page numbers since before Windows.

See Page numbering /header / footer problems Word 2007 - 2016 and see if that describes your problem.

Here is more information on page numbers.

I had no trouble adding a page number to your document which was open in compatibility mode.
