Default Make table of contents accurate when multiple sections are in place

First post here so apologies in advance if this is an amateur question.

I am writing my thesis/dissertation on Word 2016 for Mac and as such is it a very long document (probably gonna be around 40-50 pages). I had a table of contents set up nicely, with it updating accordingly and the page numbers in the footers all being consequent and correct.

However, one of the tables in my document can only fit on the page if it was in landscape orientation. So, I have changed the page it is on to landscape, and in the process created another section. So now the page number on that page is "1" and has started all over again, when I actually want it to be considered as all one section with the numbers in order. Furthermore, the next page is back to portrait orientation, and it is numbered as page "1" too.

Is there a way I can have the tables in the doc fit on the page (even if there was a way to keep it as portrait orientation and just flip the tables 90 degrees), have my table of contents work, and have all the page numbers in order?
