My Office Home and Business 2010 DVD came with a new PC that was purchased a few years ago. It says on the DVD "Intended for distribution with a new PC" I would like to install it on my laptop. Is there a way to tell if this is a single user, 2 PC license or is it, as I am guessing, a license for a single PC? How can I tell, short of installing and seeing if I have activation problems?

If it is only a single PC license, what is the best way to get Office 2010 on my laptop? Can I upgrade the current license to include 2 PCs? Can I purchase a 2nd license?

And while I might consider installing 2013 or 2016 on the laptop, I especially DO NOT want to go to 365 because 365 is a subscription service and not a single license. I know that subscription services are the industry trend now, which might make sense for a business, but they make no sense to me as an individual, except as a way to drain my pocketbook under the allure of perpetual updates. The outlay under this business model far exceeds the outlay under the old single license model.

Sorry for the digression. Would appreciate some thoughts here. Also, on Googling Office 2010 Home and Business license, I see that Office 2010 can still be purchased for about $50, which might be the best solution. Any thoughts here?
