Hello,

I have a heavy task ahead of me. I need to take a manuscript in Word and transpose it to a PDF. The PDF needs to have a special formatting that isn't there in the Word document.

This PDF book is not the one I need to format, but the formatting needs to be exactly the same.

The book I'm linking to is Volume I of a 3 volume series. The PDF I need to format is Volume II.

I started out transposing the Word version of Volume II to PDF from scratch. I opened Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and started creating pages. I transposed each paragraph one by one (the only way I know how in Acrobat) and quickly learned this is an extremely tedious process. I started a thread over at the Adobe community here:

The response I got is that this is NOT the way you create a PDF book. Acrobat was not meant to be used this way (creating books from scratch like this). The suggestion was that I ought to do the formatting in Word and then simply print to PDF.

That's why I'm starting this thread.

Looking at the attached PDF, you can see various formatting requirements, which are as follows:

* Footer needs to have that purple horizontal rule.
* Footer needs to display the current chapter.
* Header needs to display the book title.
* Every odd page needs to have a left margin larger than the right margin.
* Every even page needs to have a right margin larger than the left margin.

The first three items I can *probably* figure out on my own (tho I've already tried the purple horizontal rule and have yet to figure out how that's done). It's the last two points I'm wondering about. How does one alternate margin sizes from even to odd pages in a Word document?

I would appreciate an answer to this, and more generally, answers to how to accomplish all the requirements listed above.
