Press the Shift key first, then the Alt key. I.e., use Shift+Alt.
Or change the keyboard shortcut in Windows for switching languages.

I repeat, in the Ribbon versions of Word, there is no way to disable the Alt tooltips for the Ribbon. They were not in earlier versions of Word because there was no Ribbon. If you want to use a Ribbon version of Word, get used to it.
