Hello Charles,

For some reason, the problem is resolved!

I have done something, which I have no idea about, that has solved the problem. Here is what I did.

The template is a Landscape design with one side being the front and back cover and the other side containing the details.

My problem was with the part containing the details.

Having no success working on the original template, I copied and pasted all the details on the left side inner page and entered them on a new Word Document.

There being quite a lot of names to copy down, I chose to use Ariel Narrow in size 10. I set the space ‘Before’ and ‘After’ to “0”

The first group at the top was in two columns – not designed as actual columns but details on a line with each name –Eg:-

With a list of 12 names, they only required to be spaced out on the line – this did not present a problem.

The second group likewise was no problem, being a list of only five names.

The main problem had been with the next, the third group, this contained a list of three columns with five names in each column.

Short History.
Working on the original template I was not able to get the first name of the second column typed in on the same line as the first name of the first column, it continually ended up as the second name of the first column.

So I typed the names of the first column beneath each other. Now, when I tried to type the first name of the second column alongside that first name of the first column, it would jump beneath the first name of the first column. This is when I came to this Forum to try to find out the way to overcome the problem!

So, to continue with what I have done –

I had no problem copying and pasting all the names and when I tried to arrange them in proper columns it was fairly simple. Some names had gone into the next line, but on reducing the spacing and bringing the names closer together they finally appeared in their correct three columns.

Now came the big test. I copied them in bulk and pasted them on the original Template. The result was a little chaotic, similar to the previous attempt, the names were very spaced out, with some displacing those below and forming part of a new line. I repeated my efforts in bringing them closer by using the back-spacer and when they were in their correct positions, I did the same with the second line, and so on.

The result was that the original template accepted the corrected lists and the whole document is now as I wanted it to be.

Just as a further 'test' I attached it to an email and sent it to myself - it opened and was correct!

My thanks for the advice offered and I hope that this explanation will be of help to anyone who has the same frustrating problem!

Regards,

Colin
