Does the document print properly? If so, it's probably a display driver issue. Check the display card maker's web site for an updated driver.
Do you have the same fonts installed that your Australian client has used in the document? If not, Word may have trouble rendering it correctly. In such cases, if the font has not been embedded in the document, Word substitutes another font but this can't be expected to reproduce the original layout.
Since Word uses the current printer's driver to manage document layout, the problem may stem from there. However, the first thing to do would be to ensure there isn't a problem with Word itself. To that end, do a repair via Word Options|Resources|Diagnose. Then try deleting & reinstalling your printer, preferably with the manufacturer's latest drivers.
