Default Variable Image in Document: Dependent on a Setting or a Property

All, apologies for my recent onslaught of questions. I promise I am putting time into finding a solution before posting... These questions are for rather advanced actions in Word though.

I have a logo for a subgroup of a bigger company in the top corner of my document. I want other subgroups of the company to be able to use the same document, and their subgroup logo would simply be placed there instead.

I am open to ideas, but just need a pointer of where to find some instruction to achieve this. Some options I have considered:
1. Set the image to be dependent on a document property. If the document Author property is B, then the image should be B.jpg; if the Authoer is V, then the image should be V.jpg.

2. Is there a way to simply make that image clickable and allow the authoer to select from a list of options for the logo? I would like to pre-prepare the subgroup logos so that it's standardised, rather than the user finding their own version of the subgroup logo and resizing it their own way.

Maybe this is being too complicated though -- if so, tell me

Looking to learn -- just point me in the right direction of keywords and I can find it myself too
