I've attached a document which demonstrates the problem.

The indenting of the page number occurs because I have set a hanging indent to accommodate headings with 'complex' heading numbers.

It just so happens that 'Glossary' is shorter than the 2 cm I've used for the hanging indent and consequently the tab that Word inserts after the Heading text gets stuck at the hanging indent.

In the attached document the problem disappears if you set the hanging indent for TOC 1 style to 1.5 cm, But this then causes problems elsewhere with the numbering scheme

I'd be happy to accept a workaround that allowed me to pad the 'Glossary' title with non visible characters but unfortunately, when adding non-breaking spaces, hidden ' leader' characters or just tabs, Word happily ignores the non visible text (even when using charformat for the hidden text).

PS. Thanks for the tip about the right margin. That resolves the issues I was having with wrapping heading text appropriately in the TOC.
