Default the alignment of successive lines in a cell

In my Microsoft Word 2010, the successive lines in a cell (after typing Enter) align with the symbols (of the line above) that follow (1) an entry followed by (2) a period and (3) a space (e.g., 1. ).

This is all fine and good, except that in some instances, I would like the successive lines in a cell (after typing Enter) to align with the first symbol of the line above, which in my example above, is the numeral 1.

Example:

1. PHRASAL
PREPOSITIONAL
VERB

Does anyone know how I achieve the Example?

In the attachment, I achieved it in one cell, starting with 2. PREPOSITIONAL VERB. Please don't ask me how I achieved it: I don't know how I achieved it.

In my Microsoft Word, typing 1. does not achieve an indentation, but typing 1. followed by a space creates an indentation which I don't want.
