What happens when you use Word's save as pdf?

The people here have experience about using Word but may not be the best resource on this issue. You may want to consult the manufacturers of the pdf conversion products as well.

I regularly use tables in Word with no borders. I have never experienced this using either direct save as pdf in Word or Adobe's Add-In. However, I do not have shading in my tables, either.
