Question Word thinks my table is a list

I'm trying to copy and paste a table from one Word document into another. I hit the little Paste Options button and sometimes it says "Continue List" or "Paste as a New List". But it's not a list, it's a table. I want it to say "Keep Source Formatting". And sometimes it says "Merge with Existing List" but there is no existing list. HELP!
