All I am doing is opening Word and then going to a sub-directory where I know there are Word documents attempting to open one.
As a test I just created a file and placed it on the desktop. When I closed that file and the attempted to open it by clicking on in Word and then looking on the desktop, Word could not find the file.

As a side note, if I go into Microsoft File Explorer and double-click a Word file, it opens perfectly.
