I'm using Office XP with Windows 7 on a new laptop. I keep an icon of MS Word in the taskbar.

When MS Office updated to be able to handle .docx files, all files ending in .doc disappeared from the right-click menu of the taskbar Office icon. Only .docx shows up now. This has been consistent for about a month and a half. Nothing seems to make a .doc stick, even when I pin one to the taskbar.

How can I get the taskbar right-click menu to recognize both .docx and .doc?
