Update. I discovered that my file size was over 6 GB since one of my RSS feeds went haywire and loaded me up with over 100,000 emails.....repeating the same ones thousands of times. After deleting all of those I was able to run Scanpst and the repair completely and successfully. Hopefully that will have done the trick.
