Default Whole Text Box Deletes when I try to delete a tab

Hello.
This may seem like a complicated question. But I will try my best to explain it. I am attempting to delete a tab that I put in the Text Box. However whenever I attempt to delete the tab the whole text box with everything in it deletes. I have tried multiple times. Each time I get the same result.
The way I delete a tab is by putting my cursor right after the tab and then pressing the delete button marked 'delete'. I obviously wait for the blinking line to appear.
I can delete a letter in the text box as well as type perfectly. The only problem is deleting a tab.
I should probably note that there are multiple tabs in the text box.
I should also probably note that this just happened. I was able to delete tabs earlier on in the same text box. Then all of a sudden I could not delete any tabs.
May somebody please tell me how I can delete a tab in a Text Box.
