Default Powerpoint slideshow using exixting excel graph's activex checkboxes

I'm wanting to create a slide that links to an existing excel graph's activeX checkboxes.

I've managed to create the slide where I can change the graph by using the "pop-up" excel editor graph with one minor complication. When I click one of the ActiveX checkboxes the graph changes in the slide as it should, but the checkbox in the slide won't show the check unless I change something else. This can be as simple as double clicking any blank cell and hitting enter. Or by checking another ActiveX checkbox and the first checkbox then has a checkmark, but again the last checkbox doesn't have the check mark in the slide.

What I would really like is to be able to check the checkbox in powerpoint during a slide presentation and the information changes as it should as if I had clicked the checkbox in the excel editor. I have 6 checkboxes all linked to specific information for my graph and pending on the information that needs to be shown any combination of checked boxes can be required
