Default Inserting eps file into Word doc

I seem to have an issue with inserting eps files into Word 2013 (365).

jpg or other formats are fine, and I've tried the same eps file on an old PC running Office 2002 (XP) and it's no problem.

eps is among the graphic options on the insert dialogue box, but when I insert I don't get the usual low-res preview, just a box that says 'This image cannot currently be displayed'.

Physically printing the doc does not work either - so it's not just a preview issue.

Google searches suggest this might be some sort of security thing Microsoft added, but I don't seem to have the same registry structure as the posters to try amending it.

I also can't seem to find a way to add any graphics filters - on the theory that the eps one might not be installed as a default.

Does anyone know of a way around this?

Cheers
