For complete background, I'm using Win7 and Outlook 2007. Both were installed fresh on a new HDD after the crash. I've been using it for email for a couple weeks now, and consequently there's lots om email. I also imported my calendar from my cell phone using MyPhoneExplorer so there's stuff in Outlook Calendar. What's missing is Contacts... totally empty. So is Address Book when opened from Tools menu.
It is the Contacts list that I need to recover from my pre-Crash Outlook.pst.
Note that there are TWO Outlook.pst files in play here. For clarity I shall refer them as pre-Crash Outlook.pst and New Outlook.pst. The pre-Crash Outlook.pst is in folder C:\Users\Owner\Outlook.
The New Outlook.pst is in C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
What I need to do is merge pre-Crash Outlook.pst with New Outlook.pst
So, tried macropod's suggestion again. Here's what I did:
Opened Outlook. It opens with New Outlook.pst. I select Contacts in the navagation panel at the left, and I get "No items to show" in the right panel. From the menu bar I select Files|Import/Export. In the dialog I select Import from another program or File. In the next dialog I select Personal Folder (.pst) for the file type to import from.
In the next dialog, File to Import, I browse to the pre-Chash Outlook.pst, C:\Users\Owner\Outlook\Outlook.pst. Under Options I take the default, "Replace duplicates with items imported." In the next dialog, "Import Personal Folders," I select Contacts, check Include subfolders, and select Import items into the current folder (presumably the New Outlook.pst). I click Finish. I get no confirmation of Success or Failure. But, unfortunately, I still nothing in the Contacts or Address Book/
What am I doing wrong?
