That was it! I set up a reference ("master") file on a shared network drive (actually in a hidden folder with file properties set as "read-only" so less chance of it being tampered) and bookmarked the different sections/content. Then, in the separate template I used InsertFileRange to insert certain bookmarked ranges from the reference file depending on the selection in the Content Control drop-down. That was exactly what I needed...thanks for the guidance!
