Default Is this guy using Word for statistical analysis? Can it be done? Why not Excel?

Hi guys,

Nice to be able to join your forums. I'm a long time user of Word as a word processor. It never occurred to me to use it for anything else and certainly not statistical analysis or sorting of data.

So, I'm trying to decipher what some user on another forum is saying in this post:

Quote:
My computer crashed twice - unusual (the thing is my Word folder can be unstable and it can crash the computer). Usually I run off updated parameter data from my Word file before 2.30 but was behind on things today.
Also, in some other posts he claims to be using a statistical model and numbers in a table.

This was all very puzzling to me.

Could anyone here be able to shed some light on this or give their interpretation?

Can Word indeed be used for doing statistical analysis on data? I've always used Excel for this kind of stuff.

Can there be any advantages over using Word instead of Excel for analysis?

Thanks so much in advance!

Best.
