I'm new to the forum, I hope someone can help me.

I have quite a complex Access query that I connect to from Word. The query takes about 20 seconds to load, which is fine when loading up my Word document to compile a batch of letters.

The problem is that the query is being refreshed by Word a lot more frequently than I require. The query is refreshed:

· On closing the 'Mail Merge Recipients' dialog box.
· On switching back to the merge document, after viewing another Word document.

Is there any way I can limit the frequency at which the query is refreshed? I spent a lot of time on this document, which now automates a lot of my job, the problem is that waiting for the query to refresh every time is making it counter-productive!

I don't really want to copy the query to an Excel document every time I do a batch of letters. I realise that this would solve the problem, however, it would take some of the elegance out of the process.
