Default creating manuscript w/footnotes from separate documents containing chapters with footnotes-word 2010

I have eleven chapters for a book, each chapter with its own footnotes and each chapter is in a separate word 2010 file—I have been previously using them as separate essays. I now want to combine these chapters, with their footnotes, into one document which will be a manuscript. In the manuscript document, the footnotes for the chapters will no longer be at the end of each chapter (as they currently are in the separate chapter files) but will be positioned together, in chapter order, at the end of the manuscript. So, at the end of the eleven chapters where the footnotes begin will be "Chapter 1 Notes" - 1-15; "Chapter 2 Notes", 1-8; etc., through "Chapter 11 Notes", 1-21.

My problem is with the footnotes. In the individual chapter files, the footnotes are connected to the main document—when I combine the chapters into one manuscript how can I then order the notes at the end of the manuscript without losing the footnote connection?

What is the best way to accomplish putting together the manuscript from the separate chapter files? HELP!
