I carried out the repair process, but the default font still remains at Calibri.

But... I copied the Normal.dotm file from my computer at work on to a memory stick and added it to the (normally) hidden file as noted in my earlier post. (C:\Documents and Settings\My UserName\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates).

This time when I start Word 2007, lo and behold, the default font is Arial! Just what the doctor ordered!

Thanks anyways for the advice. I wonder though what the root cause is for the Normal.dot file not being found or created whenever Word 2007 is started. Oh, well.
