Default Suggestions don't work

It's s long time since you gave your suggestions for getting around the tiny hyperlink dialog box in Word and Excel. Pasting in the target will give a link to a folder. To get a link to open a document involves first setting a link to the folder then copying the name of the document, opening hyperlink again and copying in the document name at the end of the path. Browsing for files will result in a link that opens the document but it's just as tedious as clicking at least 10 times through the hyperlink dialog box.

I need to do thousands of these links and I have a severe overuse injury in my hands, arms etc so I especially need to minimise mouse clicks. I have found several fairly useless little programs intended to resize dialog boxes and one that works but the new size doesn't stick. I have searched the registry to see if there is anything there that suggests dialog box resizing, but with no luck.

Hope you can help.
