Further information re the above post: I have now discovered that the problem — even this major bug? — has nothing to do with any layout or formatting error, nor with templates; nor is it confined to envelopes. It occurs every time a file in a paper size other than A4 (my default size) in landscape format is saved, Word is closed and then the document and Word are restarted. Because of this more general problem, I shall create a new post under the title 'Saved and reopened files print wrongly'.
