Word 2013 is not supposed to work on Windows XP. Just sayin'.

Lots of tables can cause problems.

Try creating a new document. Go into your existing document and go to the very end of the document. Insert a continuous section break (Page Layout tab - Breaks) followed by the Enter key for a new paragraph. Then copy everything except the newly-created paragraph into the new document. Is that document any better?
