Default Create Floating Table of Contents in Word Mac 2008?

Hi there,

In newer versions of Word for PC and Mac, the search bar on the left side of the screen is quite handy, particularly the view where you can see all of the headings in the document and click on them to navigate around the document.

This feature does not appear to be available on Word Mac 2008, the software that my client has access to at the moment.

My client would like to have similar functionality; that is, to be able to click on the section headers to navigate a long and complex document within Word 2008.

Is it possible to fake this sidebar in some way, perhaps by using a pane on the left that contains a Table of Contents that would stay frozen while she scrolls down the right pane? Or perhaps we can create a floating text box that contains the table of contents. Or perhaps there is a better workaround that I'm not thinking of.

Thanks so much for any ideas you can offer--I'm stuck!

Rocky

ps updating to a newer version of Word does not work for my client's situation at the moment
