You appear to be using a third-party product for your mailmerges, not just Word's mailmerge tools. What you can achieve will be limited by that product's abilities. That said, you may be able to circumvent the issue by applying Word's mailmerge filters to filter the records so that only those meeting your 'Operational' criteria are processed. In that case, you also won't need the IF tests.
