Default Executive Assistant Outlook EXTREMELY SLOW!

Hello all
As an Executive Assistant I thought I might reach out to this community/forum to see if I am the only one dealing with this. My Outlook is EXTREMELY PAINFULLY SLOW and non responsive. I am told by my company's IT world that its because I am an Executive Assistant and have others calendars and inboxes to manage. Is this a true statement and has anyone else experienced this? It is so painfully slow and then I get a white/greyed out screen indicating Not Responding... to do any sort of work in the calendar is simply unbearable. I clean/delete my cookies all the time as well.
Thoughts or suggestions or do any other EA's experience this? Is it truly that we bear the brunt due to the calendars we manage and inboxes etc?
Thank you
