The end of my previous post was supposed to be like this: "Either create a custom template which includes the FILENAME field or make use of a macro that adds the field."

As far as macro creating is concerned, you can create a macro that adds the FILENAME field to the main header in all documents that you open in Word. However, that approach is far from always appropriate.
